Past Projects

Mobile Energy Clinic Program
Under contract with San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) company, Matrix ESI implemented this program from 2006 through 2009. We provided low-cost/no-cost HVAC and lighting efficiency measures to small retail, office and service facilities, with square footage of 5,000 or less. We did this through a door-to-door and on-the-spot delivery approach. The program achieved its original net savings goals one year ahead of schedule and was therefore expanded to provide service through 2009.

Demand-Based Ventilation Program for Movie Theaters
Under contract with Southern California Edison (SCE), Matrix ESI performed the installation of a demand-based (CO2) ventilation system for movie theaters that were designed to have a high minimum amount of fresh air due to high occupancy. The demand-based ventilation system modulated the outdoor air damper to minimize heating and cooling energy when theater occupancy was low. We conducted installations for Regal Cinemas that had more than 600 HVAC units (installation target was 632 units), in addition to recruiting other sites with 700 potential units.

Upstream High-Efficiency Water Heater Rebate Program
Under contract with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), Matrix ESI provided a rebate for 48,000 high-efficiency gas and 3,000 high-efficiency electric water heaters at the upstream/distributor level. The program was originally designed to provide rebates for 14,000 gas and 1,000 electric units until the end of 2007. However, due to strong demand, and the fact that we finished ahead of schedule, the program was extended to the year 2008.
